Dan Miner is the Head Choir Director at Travis High School in Fort Bend ISD (Richmond, TX). He holds degrees from Michigan State University in both music education and piano and has experience teaching choir at both the middle school and high school levels. Choirs under his direction have earned consistent "Sweepstakes" awards at the Texas UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation as well as top honors at choral festivals in the Houston area. He has also been honored to present two separate workshops (Vowel Boot Camp, 2020 & Teaching Musicianship, 2023) at the Texas Music Educators' Association's annual conference in San Antonio, TX.
As a composer, his compositions have been featured at various reading sessions across the country and focus on developing choirs at the middle and high school levels. Several of his works have received their premiere by honor choirs at convention performances including a premiere at the 2021 Texas Choral Director's Association Convention in San Antonio, TX and the 2024 SWACDA Convention in Denver, CO. His piece ¿Que es la vida? is the winner of the 2024 Emily Crocker Emerging Composer Competition and received its premier at the 2024 Texas Choral Director’s Association Convention. His compositions and arrangements are currently published with Alliance Music Publications, BriLee Music Publishing, Carl Fischer Publishing, D/M Music, and the Hal Leonard Corporation with both vocal and instrumental works in print.
Additionally, he serves as Organist/Music Associate at Clear Lake United Methodist Church and is a regular accompanist for a variety of performances across the Houston area.
Dan is a member of the American Choral Directors' Association (ACDA), American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), Texas Music Adjudicators’ Association (TMAA), the Texas Music Educators’ Association (TMEA), and the Texas Choral Director's Association (TCDA).
